RESOLUTION NO. .05-453
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FEDERAL WAY, WASHINGTON, RELATING TO THE
ADOPTION OF THE NATIONAL INCIUENT
MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.
WHEREAS, the City of Federal Way currently uses the Incident Command System, as
referenced in the Department of Homeland Security's National Incident Management System; and
WHEREAS, as a component of the National Incident Management System, the Department
of Homeland Security requires that federal, state, tribal, and local agencies adopt the systcm in order
for these agcncies and their personnel to coordinate efforts to cffcctively and efficiently provide the
highest levels of incident command in the event of a homeland security emergency, whether related
to acts of terrorism or natural, manmade, or teclmologieal disasters;
WHEREAS, the City of Federal Way recognizes the need for a single, stcmdardized incident
management system to be used by all government agencies and disciplines in the event of an
cmergency and desircs to adopt the National Incident Management System;
NOW THEREFORE, the City Cowlcil ofthe City of Federal Way, herby resolves as f()llows:
Section 1. National Incident Management System - Adopted. The City of Federal Way
adopts the National Incident Management System, a copy of which shall remain on file with the City
Clerk's Office, which shall be used by Emergency Response Providcr pcrsonnel for all homeland
security incidents and drills whether related to acts of terrorism or natural, man-Inade, or

technological disasters.
Section 2. Severability. If any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of
this resolution is declared unconstitutional or invalid for lilY reason, such decision shall not affect
the validity of the remaining portions of this resolution.
Section 3. Ratification. Any act consistent with the authority and prior to the effective date of
this resolution is hereby ratified and affirmed.
Section 4. EfTectivc Date. This resolution shall be ef1ective immediately upon passage by the
Federal Way City Council.
