I. CALL MEETING TO ORDER
Mayor Park called the special meeting to order at 5:33 PM. Councilmembers Burbidge,
Dovey, Faison, Kochmar and Deputy Mayor Ferrell present. Councilmember McColgan
arrived at 5 :43 PM.
II. COMMUNITY CENTER 6-MONTH BUSINESS PLAN REVIEW
City Manager Neal Beets introduced Sr. Financial Analyst Mark Turley and Recreation
Services Supervisor Mary Faber. Both reviewed the first six month financials of the center
stating what programs have gone well and where improvements can be made.
Mr. Turley stated the first six months showed a $272,000 shortfall. The average monthly
budget is $138,000 while the average monthly revenue is $93,000.
Ms. Faber reviewed the pass sales and rental reports for the past six months and stated that
birthday party pool rentals and aquatics classes are exceeding expectations, however adult
fitness classes and business rentals are down from what was projected.
Ms. Faber introduced Karon Badalamenti of GreenPlay, LLC. Ms. Badalamenti reviewed
the business plan and market strategies she feels will capitalize on the benefit to the
community regarding health and wellness. She stated that it is important to remember that
the FWCC has a different niche than a private fitness center.
III. DISCUSSION
Mayor Park expressed disappointment in the information provided and asked that more
concrete information, performa and actuals, be given at the retreat and then in April/May
Council be given a full year of information.
Staff will provide more detailed financials by the January Retreat and come back to
Council in April/May of 2008 with a full year of data.

Mayor Park adjourned the Special Meeting at 6:43 PM.
