Planning Comm MINS 03-05-1997 SUMMARY
Commissioners present: Diana Noble-Gulliford, Todd Suchan, Tim Carr, Peter Morse, Lu Joslin,
and Dean Greenough. Commissioner absent: Robert Vaughan (Chair). Staff present: Senior
Planner Margaret Clark and Administrative Assistant E. Tina Piety.
The meeting started at approximately 7:00 p.m.
Mrs. Clark presented the 1996 and 1997 work programs (please see attached). She elaborated on
the scope-of-work for some of the 1997 work program items and requested commission input.
The commission would like a definition of each project and would like to know who the
contractor is for each project.
For Downtown Parking, the commission questioned the focus on downtown. They were
concerned about design of parking garages in terms of aesthetics and security. They would like
the study to take into account the possible transit center and underground structures.
For Subdivisions, the commission would like to see a market analysis that focuses on
townhomes/ condominiums.
For Affordable Housing, the commission requested a definition of “affordable.” They would like
to see an emphasis on maintaining the city’s current low income housing in good condition. They
encourage zero lot line and cluster development (which the Subdivision project will address).
They are also concerned with senior housing.
