MINUTES

1. CALL TO ORDER
Commissioner Johnson called the meeting to order at 5:25 p.m.
2. APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES
SARAH KIRSCH MOVED, SHANNON BERNARDY SECONDED. A MOTION TO
APPROVE THE FEBRUARY 21st MINUTES AS WRITTEN. MOTION PASSED.
3. PUBLIC COMMENT
a. Members of the Diversity Commission DeBorah Little, Rhona Ray, Jackie Piel,
Nanette Gammage, and Angelina Allen-Mpyisi came in to speak with the Youth
Commission. They expressed their objective to promote more diversity. They
summarized the different events that they held this year as well as their business plan.
They wanted someone from the Youth Commission to be a part of the Diversity
Commission by creating a subcommittee consisting of members from both commissions.
The subcommittee will rotate members. Commissioners Bernardy and Wilson
volunteered to meet with the Diversity Commission on March 27th at the Community
Center to work out the details of this subcommittee.
4. COMMISSION BUSINESS
a. New Community Center (Grand Opening) – We were all sent invitations for the
Grand Opening event. The VIP breakfast will be held at the new Community Center.
b. Youth Recognition Night – We still need to find a location for Youth Recognition
Night. We would preferably like to hold it at the Knutzen Theatre. However, we still need
to contact the theater and ask whether there is an available date to book the theater. As of
now, the date of this event is still pending. We are looking at the last week of April for
this event. Flyers need to be updated and applications need to be put online.
c. All City Talent Show (Late Spring) – So far, we are planning to hold this event on
the last Thursday of May. Rehearsals will be held on the 22nd and the 24th of May.
d. Commission Partnerships (Meeting) – This meeting will be held on Wednesday,
April 25th from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at the City Hall.
