MINUTES
In attendance: Commission Members: Hayley Johnson, Allison Palumbarit, Kiley Martin, Doris
Jeong, Michelle Fernandez Catherine Rawsthorn, Caroline Lee
Absent Excused: Sarah Kirsch, Lyndsey Wilson, Shannon Bernard y

1. CALL TO ORDER
Commissioner Johnson called the meeting to order at 4:46 p.m.
2. APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES
DORIS JEONG MOVED, ALLISON PALUMBARIT SECONDED. A MOTION TO
APPROVE THE MARCH MINUTES AS WRITTEN. MOTION PASSED.
3. PUBLIC COMMENT
a. None
4. COMMISSION BUSINESS
a. Youth Recognition Night – The pending date for holding this event on May 1st at the
Knutzen Theater did not work out. The application has been revised and updated. The
Commissioners need to send these out to the schools. Because of recent difficulties of
trying to get this event organized, it was advised that the Youth Commissioners
communicate outside of meetings to keep post with what was going on with the events.
The new date that we are shooting for this event is June 7th at the Knutzen Theater. The
deadline for the application is on May 21st. Each Commissioner will drop off flyers to
their assigned schools. Youth Recognition Night will be from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Youth
Commissioners should be there at 6:00 pm.
b. Commission Partnership Gang Violence Meeting– There will be a meeting at City
Hall on Gang Violence. Youth Commissioners will attend this after the Youth
Commission meeting. They might want the Commission’s opinion and help. They
possibly will ask us questions.
c. All City Talent Show – Commissioner Johnson expressed her interest in having a
Talent Show this year. There might be a problem with book the theater. The deadline for
applications will be on May 24th. The auditions will be held on May 31st at the
Community Center from 6:00 to 8:00. We are trying to shoot for holding this event on
June 6th (dress rehearsal) and the 7th (actual show) at the Knutzen.
d. Red, White, and Blues Festival July 4th– The Youth Commission reviewed the new
and past features of this festival. There still will be a dunk tank and a new teen area. We
are looking for two bands to perform. The Commissioners brainstormed new ideas such
as an eating contest and karaoke.
