SPECIAL MEETING OPEN HOUSE MINUTES
Present: Chair Brian Ailinger, Vice-Chair Jack Sharlock, Mark Koppang, George Pfeiffer, Martin Moore,
Mike Hoefel, Laura Belvin, Randall Smith, and David Berger. Jim Miranda and Dwight Otto were excused.
Staff: Parks and Facilities Manager Steve Ikerd, Parks & Facilities Supervisor Jason Gerwen, Director of
Parks, Public Works & Emergency Management Cary Roe and Parks and Public Works Administrative
Assistant Shawna Upton.
The Parks & Recreation Commission held an open house to obtain public feedback on the proposed
improvements to the Funland play structure at Steel Lake Park.
Displays were presented that illustrate the proposed layout of the new play structure including structural
elements such as benches, tables and improved trash containers as well as different types of play features that
were being considered at the site. The public was asked to vote for their favorite activity panels in four
different categories and provide comments and suggestions regarding the proposed improvements in general.
Information regarding donation opportunities was also distributed.
