I am very interested in serving on the Federal Way youth commission and I know that I could be a positive addition to the commission. Over the past two years that I have attended Beamer, I have had the opportunity to be involved in many sports and clubs. I am a member of National Honor Society and Free The Children club. I have also been a member of the varsity cross-country and track teams since freshman year. All of these experiences have provided me with the opportunity to learn leadership skills and how to successfully interact and work with with my fellow peers. I feel that both of these traits would be important to a member of the youth commission. Academically, I have maintained a 4.0 GPA in my years at Todd Beamer and have worked very hard to do so. I love giving back to the community and always look for ways to pitch in. Every year I participate in an earth day cleanup in one of our local parks. In my church I have served in leadership positions that have allowed me to assist in planning and coordinating service projects for the youth of our church. One of my favorite hobbies is playing the piano. Over the past year I have built a successful business of teaching piano lessons to kids here in Federal Way. Through this I have learned important skills such as time and money management. I care deeply about this community and want the best for all of us being raised within it. I would love to have the opportunity of being on the Federal Way youth commission and assisting in the betterment of Federal Way. U NOV 0 3 2014 Jesse C. Before this year I attended private schools (Spring Valley Montessori and most recently Charles Wright Academy). I believe that the difference in education could potentially provide a unique viewpoint on the education in Federal Way. I believe a lot in education and would love the opportunity to work with the city to help improve our city's schools. I am also interested in local government and would much enjoy the chance to serve in my local government by being a Youth Commissioner and provide for the city by representing my many friends. I would like to be apart of the brainstorming of creative ideas, and 1 am told that 1 am a good listener and work well with both other peers and adults. I am also an avid sports participant, and believe that it is important for kids my age to participate in extracurricular activities. I believe that activities like sports and other clubs can foster good skills like teamwork and leadership into youth like myself. I have a lot of responsibility to uphold for example our homecoming dance is the biggest event of the year. There are three junior representatives in all, including myself and our responsibilities are making sure all activities for the week are planned and communicated to our peers. I am also responsible in hiring a DJ for the dance, tickets sales, decorating and making sure we have posters to promote homecoming. Getting all this all done is a challenge but I am a person when I take on a task I make sure that I follow through with what is expected of me. I am responsible, motivated, a young lady of integrity and work well with others. This opportunity would help me grow as a person, a student and a leader. Thanks for considering me. As a student hungry for knowledge, I have involved myself in a varied range of activities that provide insight into different views on society today. As the director of Consejo a program, that helps the children of women in past abusive relationships, I have had the honor of tutoring children of all ages with different interests, hobbies, and backgrounds.Through this experience,I have gained a deep analytical knowledge of the needs of young people in our community today, learned to interact with children from many different walks of life, and more importantly, adapt to the changing skills and plans of those around me. Furthermore,I have gained great insight into the ways youth can solve the problems plaguing our society today from my position on Make the Dash Count. Through my participation in this philanthropic organization, I have not only been prompted to envision ways I can better myself and my peers, but it also molded me into a quick thinker that has learned to look at different situations through others' eyes. With these skills, I have developed the goal to involve those that are underrepresented in my community in all I do. With a position on this commission,I will be granted this wish,as well as an opportunity to learn more about the diverse community of Federal Way. In consummation,I am exorbitantly excited to be considered for the Youth Commission because as someone who has lived in Federal Way for more than 11 years,I would love to take part in the beautiful revival that I have seen is taking place in my city.Thank you for taking the time to consider this application and I look forward to hearing from you in the near future! I have been looking for an opportunity after school or over the weekend where I can put my skills to good use. This position would offer me the opportunity to gain experience and knowledge of being on an advisory body to the city council where I would assist fellow youth commission members to solve common local youth problems that teenagers face. Some of my skills that I could provide to the youth commission are friendliness, consideration, honesty and good work ethic. I am always striving to improve these skills and I think that being an active member of the youth commission would help me be better these skills. I look forward to hearing from you regarding the vacancies.
