MEETING MINUTES
Chair Erynn called the meeting to order at 5:05pm.
Senior Lounge

Present: Alex Kinzner, Isaiah Bush, Alyssa Odom, Erynn Littlefield, Sandra Ojeaburu, Anastassia Kostin, Judy Kim,
Jesse Goldstone, Jillian Ory, Elizabeth Sandstedt, Connor Bronson - Doherty
Absent: Chris Chung (unexcused), Mohammed Ramzan, Robert McFarlane
Guests: Cody Geddes, Recreation Supervisor

PUBLIC COMMENT
Cody asked the group to consider collecting items for hygiene packets for the homeless in collaboration with the
Federal Way Multi- Service Center. He then showed a video about the "Skate for Change" program to demonstrate
and encourage the commissioners on how and what they can be doing to become more involved in helping their
community. The FWCC has agreed to set up a collection bin to assist with these efforts. Commissioner Anastassia
would like to establish collection times for the commissioners to be at grocery stores. Schmidt asked the
commissioners to have all items collected within the next six weeks.
COMMISSION BUSINESS
September Minutes
Chair Erynn motioned to approve June minutes to unanimous approval by all present commissioners.
Princess Party
Chair Erynn, Commissioner Mohammed, and alternate Elizabeth volunteered. Chair Erynn reported the event was
heavily attended and ran smoothly. She also said the event was a lot of fun.
Upcoming Events
Two upcoming events in December including Cookies with Mrs. Claus and the Jingle Bell Brunch. Schmidt will ask
the event coordinators about volunteer opportunities and will relay any needs in the November meeting.
Adopt -a- Family /Sub- committees
Group 1 (consisting of Alex, Alyssa, Erynn, Anastassia, Jesse, Jillian, and Elizabeth) set up a fundraiser with Panda
Express. On October 12th between the hours of 4pm — 9pm, a percentage of each order for any customer who
brought in a specific flyer was donated. They were able to raise $85.00.
Group 2 (consisting of Isaiah, Sandra, Chris, Judy, Mohammed, Robert, and Connor) were unable to execute an
activity. Commissioner Sandra's parents donated $20.00.
Both groups have agreed to make one more attempt before the November meeting. Commissioner Sandra
suggested composing a donation letter to hand out to prospective donation sources /location venues. Schmidt

said that the money may need to be applied toward next year's Adopt -a- Family program if a minimum amount is
not reached. The group is trying to raise at least $700.00 but ideally would like to raise $1000.00.
Teen Program
Schmidt said there is a possibility of having one event /trip before the end of the year. Commissioner Anastassia
suggested a game night at the FWCC. Commissioner Alyssa said that a program titled "Teen Tix° offers low cost
admission fares and would be worth looking into. Commissioner Isaiah asked that they focus their attention on a
singular idea in order to help bring it to fruition. Schmidt helped the commissioners settle on the idea of ice -
skating as the activity and then seeing the holiday lights in Spanaway. The commissioners will discuss further in
November's meeting.
