ADJOURN 1 | Page Violence Prevention Coalition Steering Committee MEETING SUMMARY October 26, 2016 @ 4:00PM Council Chambers Committee Members Present: Chair Doug Baxter, Vice Chair Lawrence Garrett, Dr. Danielle Pfeiffer, Andy Hwang, Kira Kuetgens, Kelli Lauritzen, Mark Hendricks, Erin Herringshaw, Dr. Andre’ Sims, Dianne Zoro, Dion Schell (4:36PM) Absent: Alonso Aguilar, Zenaida Cruz, Dr. Tammy Campbell Staff Present: Kyle Sumpter, Deputy Chief, Jeri-Lynn Clark, Executive Assistant to Council Citizens Present: None 1. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 4:09PM. 2. CITIZEN COMMENT None 3. COMMITTEE COMMENT None 4. COMMITTEE BUSINESS A. Approval of Minutes Motion to approve October 12, 2016 meeting minutes by Chief Andy Hwang and seconded by Mark Hendricks. Motion passed unanimously. B. Survey Update Vice Chair Garrett updated the Committee that Dr. Campbell will not be incorporating any of the youth questions in the FWSD survey, but will share the results with the Committee. The Committee discussed how long we should collect the survey data and it was agreed that it would collect data all of November and December and the Committee would prepare the recommendation on the data collected during that time. The survey will stay active until the Committee has finalized the report. The Committee tested the online survey and provided feedback, changes will be made by Ms. Clark, she will email the online link to the Committee members to distribute to their contacts. The survey will be posted on the City of Federal Way website under the Violence Prevention Coalition tab. C. Community Meeting The Committee talked about how they would organize and run the Community Meeting. Breakout groups were formed from the original subcommittees Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Prevention. The meeting ended early to set up for the Community meeting. D. New Meeting Dates The new meeting dates will be the 2nd & 4th Wednesday’s of the month until April 1, 2017. The Committee agreed to have only one meeting in November and December due to the 4th Wednesday being the same week as Thanksgiving and Christmas. 2 | Page 5. OTHER BUSINESS None 6.
