Lab Reports
On January 3, 2012 I, Faith Preston of AAA Faith Services performed a "limited good faith" asbestos
survey of the following: an unoccupied single family residence and detached garage for the purpose
of demolition:
Description:
Garage: Concrete slab, unfinished inside, wood beams and wood sheets for the exterior. Compostion
roofing found to be the same on the house over wood.
Residence:
Exterior: Four layers of compostion roofing with two layers of vapor barrior over wood, metal windows
with no putty, wood and sliding glass doors, stucco texture.
Interior: 2 floors; main level and basement.
Master bedroom with attached .walk in closet and bath. Living room, dining room and kitchen.
Interior basement: Family room, four bedrooms (two with walk in closets) and one bathroom.
Floors:
Main floor: bare wood floor, carpet and pad over plywood, sheet vinyl (same in kitchen and bathroom)
Basement: Concrete slab, loose carpet and vinyl floor tile in bathroom.
Walls:
Main floor: Sheet rock with texture on most walls and some painted with no texture.
Basement: Tounge and groove wood in family room and the two adjoining bedrooms and untextured
sheet rock.
Ceilings:
Main Floor: Popcorn texture on all but bathroom and kitchen ceilings. Sheet rock on the remainder
both textured and untextured - painted.
Basement: Sheet rock and bare wood studs.
Misc. Materials: Brick on both fireplaces. Fire brick on inside of fireplace of main floor. Four types
identified in total. Formica counter top in kitchen. Stucco on outside of house.
Field inspection, data collection, and report were based on the following scope of work:
Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM)
Bulk sampling of suspect ACM.
Analysis of suspect ACM by NVLAP accredited laboratory.
Identify ACM to be removed prior to demolition or renovation.
The survey was based on "visible and accessible materials" and although reasonable effort was
made to locate and test suspect materials, some suspect materials may remain hidden in walls or
below floor underlayment or other areas until demolition or renovation work makes them accessible.
Materials uncovered during the course of demolition, renovation, or maintenance activities that are
not identified in this report must be presumed to contain asbestos or other hazardous materials until
proper analysis proves otherwise.

Sampling of suspect asbestos - containing materials were conducted as prescribed in Title 40 Code of
Regulations (40 CFR) 763.86. Sampling methodology used in accordance to Puget Sound Clean Air
Agency, Regulation 111, Article 4. Also, the owner is meeting the "Good Faith" inspection
requirement defined in WAC 296 -62 -07721 (Hazcom to Employees)_ In addition 40 CFR, subpart M,
Section 61.141, establishes the allowable limit of asbestos in building materials at 1 % by weight.
Materials more than 1 % are regulated and must be handled in accordance with all federal, state and
local regulations.

Required Action: All popcorn ceiling texture must be removed prior to disturbance from remodeling
or demolition activities. Although only one sample was identified as asbestos containing, all of the
popcorn ceiling texture in the home must be treated as asbestos, per the regulations on surfacing
materials.
Current Condition of friable asbestos: Popcorn is fully intact and undamaged.
The asbestos company hired for the abatement roust decontaminate the effected areas and provide
air samples to prove the area has been cleared of all airborne asbestos fibers. Prior to the abatement
of asbestos, a pre abatement air sample must be performed by the asbestos company or consultant,
to determine the quantity of asbestos fibers in the air.
In most cases, there is a 10 day waiting period required to notify pSCAA and L & I prior to the start of
any asbestos project. The work must be performed by a licensed asbestos contractor. The above

named agencies determine if a project qualifies for an emergency notification.
During renovation and /or demolition if any other suspect material is uncovered, that is not included in
this report, work must cease until the material has been tested for Asbestos. Please see the links
below for instructions on the regulations and rules that govern both asbestos and demolition in
residential housing.
