ESNW previously prepared the referenced modular block design recommendations and plans for the repair and drainage improvements. ESNW visited the subject property on September 22, September 25, September 29, and November 24, 2009 to observe site conditions, wall repair construction, and meet with the landscape contractor to discuss the objectives of the drainage improvements. Photographs documenting intermediate stages of the construction were also reviewed. Vineet Kumar • ES -1416 December 11, 2009 Page 2 • Structural fill reinforcement zone was suitably compacted with onsite granular soils as the wall construction and geogrid placement progressed. Previous upper keystone (landscaping) wall was removed and reestablished with increased setback from main lower wall per our geotechnical recommendations. Final drainage installation (interceptor drains / French drains) were installed per our recommendations to catch surface water runoff above the wall area. Based on our observations and review, the primary objectives of the wall repair and drainage improvements were achieved. These included reconstruction of the failed section of keystone wall, removing the previous upper keystone wall and realigning it with an increased setback from the lower wall, and improvement of overall surface drainage above the wall area. In our opinion, the wall repair and drainage improvements were completed in accordance with our geotechnical recommendations and in general accordance with the approved plans.
