CONDITIONS:
1)This decision shall not waive compliance with future City of Federal Way codes, policies, or standards relating to the
subject proposal.
2)The private access road must be widened to 16' paved surface with 2' wide gravel shoulders on each side. This shall be
inspected and approved by Public Works prior to issuance of the certificate of occupancy.
3)Prior to any clearing or grading on a lot, the owner/builder shall install temporary erosion/sedimentation control facilities

In response to your letter of April 22, 2003 we have prepared the attached
Drainage Plan for your review and approval.
No detention is required for the site as it drains directly into Puget Sound.
No water quality treatment is required as there is less than 5, 000sf of new
Pollution Generating Impervious Surface.
Most runoff from the driveway will sheet flow onto the large lawn areas. The
lawns will act as filter strips to provide water quality treatment and flow control.
The roof downspouts and the auto court and a portion of the driveway will drain
to a new catch basin in the northwest corner of the auto court. From the catch basin an
8"0 PVC pipe will drain down the slope to the existing 12"0 pipe through the seawall.
The 100 year peak flow from the roof and driveway draining to the CB is
expected to be: Q= CIA = 0.9x4.5in/hrx 0.2acres = 0.81cfs per the rational meathod.
From Manning's Equation the capacity of a 6"0 PVC at 2% is lcfs and an 8"0
PVC @ 10% is 4cfs so there is adequate capacity in the 6"0 and 8"0 lines to drain the
expected runoff.
The 8"0 PVC pipe going down the slope will be buried which will provide
adequate stability. There is only 80' + /- of 30%+ /- slope which can be handled by
the contractor without special construction procedures. Three pipe anchors are called.
for as a factor of safety.
