MEETING MINUTES
Meeting called to order at 5:36pm.
Present: Reece Binder, Von Born, Jesse Goldstone, Henry Ojeaburu, Brittany Rogers, Hannah Kim, Gaurav Gowda,

COMMISSION BUSINESS
Orientation – Legal Issues
Ryan Call briefed the commissioners on Robert’s Rules, ethics, and the Open Public Meeting Act (OPMA).
January Minutes
Commissioner Jesse motioned to approve January minutes and was seconded by Commissioner Robert.
Ice Breaker
Commissioner Reece suggested the game “21”.
Daughter’s Night Out
Commissioner Brittany attended the event with her family.
New Commissioner
Commissioner Gaurav formally introduced himself to the other commissioners.
Sub-Committees
Commissioner Henry indicated his group is working on developing a science fair idea along with a talent contest
idea. More information TBD.
Commissioner Jesse presented an idea about a soap box derby and will possibly try to coordinate with the
Recreation Dept.’s upcoming Touch a Truck event. He also updated the commissioners on his progress with the
“Don’t Judge a Book by its Cover” event in coordination with the KCLS.
Commissioner Robert is working with the principle from Mirror Lake Elementary school to develop an after-school
reading program and possibly an anti-bullying assembly.
Upcoming Events
Teen Night on March 24th
Earth Day on April 22nd (Commissioners will try and participate in corresponding Parks Appreciation Day)

Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan
Commissioner Jesse informed the commission he was contacted by Parks Director John Hutton to be a part of this
project. He asked for any interested commissioners to attend the upcoming meeting on February 23 rd.
Commissioner Jesse graduates this year and will need a replacement for the project. Commissioners Gaurav and
Oliva both expressed interest.
Volunteer Opportunities
Commissioner Gillian is leading a volunteer event to be held at the MSC on march 8th between 10am-2pm.
Commissioner Gillian was absent and therefore no more information was available at this time.
NEW BUSINESS
Commissioner Jesse asked each commissioner to bring a one page idea proposal to March’s meeting.
He is inquiring with Safeway in regards to a donation box for clothing/food items.

The next meeting is scheduled for March 15, 2016.
