SIGN PERMIT INFORMATION
• A sign permit is required to install, erect, modify, relocate, or replace a sign within the City of
Federal Way.
• Signs must comply with the requirements of the Federal Way Revised Code(FWRC) and
International Building Codes(IBC, etc.).
• Questions concerning code or submittal requirements can be answered by staff at the Community
Development Services Permit Counter at(253) 835-2607.
Sign Permit Application Process:
> Permit applications must be submitted in person
- Plan review and application fees must be paid at submittal
- Incomplete applications will not be accepted
- Electrical connection to existing J-box will be included on the sign permit; new wiring
requires a separate electrical permit
• Fees:
-+ Sign Permit fees are calculated using the table below based on a bid or estimate that
includes the fair market value of all aspects of the project.
Permit fees are collected at permit issuance
- Plan Review fees are calculated at 65%of the Permit Fees;
Plan Review fees are in addition to Permit Fees, and are collected at submittal
Automation fees: $6.00 per permit,collected at submittal

Hello Abe:
Attached are screen captures from the plans that were e-mailed on 5/11/10. I have added comments
regarding the information that is required in order to complete the review and approval of this
application. Hopefully this will help to clarify some of the issues. When we receive the corrected plans,
the modified footing design will also need to be reviewed for compliance with building codes.
I spoke with Brian Roberts concerning the deadline for removal of the power line from the newly
acquired right-of-way. Primarily,the area needs to be clear of any potential dangers to the workers who
will be completing the City project in that location. This could be accomplished by relocating all
electrical to the private side of the new boundary line prior to the installation of the sign, if necessary.
Please provide (2) complete sets of revised plans that provide the required information along with a
completed resubmittal form (which I will attach). To avoid further delays in this process, I encourage
you to do this in person for immediate feedback on the completeness of the resubmittal.
