IRC R102.7.1 Additions, alterations or repairs.
Additions, alterations or repairs to any structure shall conform to the requirements for a new
structure without requiring the existing structure to comply with all of the requirements of this
code, unless otherwise stated. Additions, alterations or repairs shall not cause an existing
structure to become unsafe or adversely affect the performance of the building.
New AC system requires the installation of a condensate pump that has no power receptacle
to plug into therefore causing the condensate discharge to drain on to the floor.
300.15 Boxes, Conduit Bodies, or Fittings —Where Required..
Where the wiring method is conduit, tubing, Type AC
cable, Type MC cable, Type MI cable, nonmetallic-sheathed
cable, or other cables, a box or conduit body shall be installed
at each conductor splice point, outlet point, switch point, junction
point, termination point, or pull point, unless otherwise
permitted in 300.15(A) through (M).
Existing wiring for furnace is not installed to new furnace in an approved wiring method.
