Dear Heath,
Attached is a detail for sleeper framing to replace the prior detailed sub-framing for the
mechanical units to be added to the roof for the Suite A-1 at 32411 Pacific Highway
South,Federal Way, WA. Maintain the same unit placement as noted in the prior
analysis. Provide the sleeper frame as noted on the attached sketch to spread the unit
loading over(7)roof joists and support the curbing at the ends of the unit back to the 4x6
main sleepers. Framing shall be pressure treated and flashed/roofed over per the roofing
subcontractor.
The sleeper frame shall be attached to the roof structure below using 3/16"wood screws
with 2"penetration at 16"o/c(pilot holes required for installation). The unit shall be
fastened to the curbing fastened to the sleeper frame per the manufacturers
ronunendations for 85 mph Exp B wind loading and Seismic Site Class D(Sds 0.830)
per the 2009 International Building Code. As a minimum,the unit curbing shall be
attached with#10 screws @ 12" o/c on all sides of the unit.
