Our office was asked by the General Contractor for the above referenced project to address
a letter to you about the pouring of a concrete curb at the base of 3 OH doors, which was to
be filled in with a wood framed wall.
The G.C. did not inform the City prior to inspect these curbs.
Upon their request, I visited the job-site to day and found that the wall was frame in per
plans and that the wall was structurally sound as I tried to displace and shake it.
I was also shown photographs prior to the pour and noticed the horizontal rebar, epoxied
bolts which I was told embedded approx. 6" into the existing concrete. Also noticeable in the
pictures was the roughened concrete surface in preparation of the pour.
Altogether it seemed to my experienced eye, that the contractor used due diligence in
installing the curb, which mainly would act as a barrier to prevent water to enter the building
floor. It is my opinion, that we can accept the workmanship performed as is to meet the
intent of my design.
