The first 5 pages are his 8/1/12 memo that laid out how we could use either 7 1/4" high microlam LVL beams or 7 1/4" high rigidlam LVL beams at either 12" or 16" on centers (O.C,). That is what we were going to do until we realized that that would lift the floor height almost 2" and put a bump upwards in center of Cat's newBR, so we had to find a beam that would fit within the existing ceiling joist height, which is 5 1/2". I asked him about steel and he provided the talcs that are on pages 6-7 attached. We were in a hurry because we had TMP's boys coming, so I took his notes and ordered the steel, which is 4 x 7.25 steel channel. He told me to space the steel at 12" O.C. and use Simpson 1/4" by 2 3/8" screws at 24" O.C. into the 2 x 6's, which we did. There should be no mystery about this, it was all very simple.
