Dear HOA Board:
Dibble Engineers, Inc. (DEI)completed a site visit on May 8, 2017 to review and assess the damage to the carport at
Madera West Condominiums.With the observations and measurements taken during the site visit, DEI was able to
provide recommendations and details for installation of a new beam, posts, and footings based on analysis of vertical
and lateral loads on the structure.
In coordination with replacing damaged materials, a new beam has been sized to be 6"x 16" Douglas fir spanning
from post to post.The beam will sit on top of new 6"x 6"posts and an existing beam as per attached details SK-2,
SK-3, and SK-4. Due to the nature of the structure,36"diameter or square footings have been recommended to
distribute to the lateral forces to the ground. See attached detail SK-5 for more information.Where trusses do not
meet roof sheathing, install 2"x 4"nailer and clips as per SK-6 to secure. Each truss should be connected to the new
beam by Simpson H1 clip.
Dibble Engineers review is limited to the areas accessible and readily visible. Dibble Engineers did not conduct a
comprehensive building analysis for either vertical or lateral loads. Unless specifically discussed in our review, no
other conditions were evaluated or considered. Our review and discussion summary does not provide warranty
either expressed or implied to the existing conditions or work completed subsequent our visit.
