SEGA Engineers has provided structural engineering including a lateral loads analysis,
shear wall design, and framing calculations for the subject project. We have been asked
to review an as -built condition at the upper floor framing where the post in the garage is
a 6 x 6 rather the a 6 x 8 as specified in the Upper Floor Framing plan shown on
drawing sheet 6. We recommend building up the installed 6 x 6 post by adding a 2 x 6
DF2 to either face which is unencumbered by the column base and cap hardware . The
added full length 2x member shall be face -nailed with two rows of 16d at 16 inches on
center, staggered.

On June 14, 2017 our field crew visited the subject property and measured the Height of
Structure. We measured the finished grade elevation (existing on that day) along the
perimeter of the existing house. We found the Average Building Elevation to be 95.43
feet and the Mid -Point of the Roof elevation to be 125.10 feet, yielding a Height of
Structure of 29.67 feet. Please see the attached sketch, which shows our measurements
and calculations.
