approval of the geotechnical special inspection and engineer of record.

Regarding: Proposed structure
Introduction
This report presents the results of our geotechnical special inspection. We observed the
installation the proposed helical piers and pin piles at the residence located at 566 298th St.,
Federal Way.
All helical piles are driven to the termination criteria of 2500 ft-lbs and 3000 ft-lbs
respectively with the exception of pile H15, which was driven to a support depth as determined
from the adjacent piles before spinning out. Spin out is where a pile is driven directly on top of
an obstruction such as a cobble and spins freely without penetrating. Spun out piles can be
assumed to have an equivalent bearing strength to adjacent piles at the same strata. In this
case, piles have been bearing on gravel with cobbles as indicated by the spikes in torque at this
strata. Helical pile H15 can be assumed to be bearing on this same strata as obstructions were
not encountered in the strata above. Depths are greater than adjacent pier H14.
All driven pin piles were installed to a driving criteria of less than 1" driven in 3 minutes
of continuous driving with 140 lb. pneumatic hammer.
