• The following addresses the questions posed by the City of Federal Way's building inspector,
received 20 April 2016.
1. With regard to the request to shim or shave studs as described in your email, no exception
taken to proposed revision so long as minimum embedment into the stud is provided
for all screws per the hold down manufacturer's data. If minimum is not achieved,
contractor shall stitch the filler strip to the stud with additional screws.
2. No exceptions taken to proposed revisions to detail 8 on sheet S10.
3. With regard to framing clips shown on S10, no exceptions taken to providing an A35F
joining the members shown joined previously by the A35.
4. With regard to the alignment of studs and roof joints, Studs do not need to align with roof
joists, or be doubled; the top plate will spread the joist load to the studs.
