E.C.I. on site as requested for observation of import material being placed for
lot fill for lots #20, #21,and #22. Contractor was observed placing 4" minus
gravel barrow. Material was being graded in 12 to18 inch lifts and rolled and
compacted with smooth roller drum in vibratory mode.
Material was observed compacting firmly and adequately after 3 to 4 passes
across surface. No compaction tests were done on this material due to high
percentage of large aggregate. It was clearly observed that this material
contained 30% or more of %" aggregate.
It is in the opinion of E.C.I. that this material is acceptable for lot fill and
procedure of compacting is adequate. E.C.I. will return as needed or as
conditions change.
