1. CALL MEETING TO ORDER
Mayor Ferrell called the meeting to order at 8:32 a.m.
City officials in attendance: Mayor Jim Ferrell, Deputy Mayor Susan Honda, Councilmember Lydia
Assefa-Dawson, Councilmember Hoang Tran, Councilmember Mark Koppang, and Councilmember
Dini Duclos.
Councilmember Jesse Johnson joined the meeting at 8:34 a.m.
Councilmember Martin Moore joined the meeting at 8:52 a.m.
City staff in attendance: City Attorney Ryan Call and City Clerk Stephanie Courtney

At 10:35 a.m. Mayor Ferrell recessed the meeting for a brief break of approximately 15 minutes.
The meeting was called back to order at 10:55 a.m.

7. PUBLIC COMMENT
Joann Piquette asked the Council review signage in the city; in particular consider placing temporary
signage on the Performing Arts & Event Center building.
Sue Petersen spoke representing her neighborhood Marine Hills. She voiced concern over quality of
life issues with increasing airplane noise and health impacts. She asked Council to take action.
Rebecca Martin, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce encouraged Council to be
business friendly and build a broader tax base.
John Resinq asked the Mayor and Council to make a stronger commitment to the residents regarding
the increasing airplane noise. He would like to see a Study Session and the Council engage the Port
regarding involvement with the SeaTac Master Plan.
Dana Holloway also spoke in concern over airport noise and adverse health impacts. She would like
to encourage the Council to attend the Highline Forum on a regular basis and make a stronger
commitment to improvements for the residents' quality of life.
Betty Taylor appreciated today's retreat format and discussions. She feels the collaboration is
beneficial and would like to see the results of the retreats brainstorming. She would like to see greater
involvement by the community.
At 12:30 p.m. Mayor Ferrell recessed the meeting for a lunch break of approximately 30 minutes.
At 1:00 p.m. he called the meeting to order.
