Dear Mr. Johnson:
At your request, this letter to address the some issues in the building.
PURPOSE OF LETTER
This letter is a correction to some of the construction issues
FINDINGS AND CORRECTIONS
As understood some issues were found during the Building Official site inspections. The
following are the problems and corrections:
1- The shear walls designated as SW45 were not correct and 7/16" was used.
Correction to be made by adding a 7/16" sheeting from the interior side fastened
with 8d @4"o.c edges and 12"o.c field.
2- Also understood that STHD14 was installed instead of HDU5 holdowns.
Corrections may be made by adding Simpson HDU2-SDS2.5 or LTT20B in these
locations. The existing STHD14 holdowns to remain. Use 5/8"x5" bolts epoxied
with ET Simpson or Expansion type bolts.
3- A section of the sill plate, about 16"inches was found with one bolt only. Add
A 1/2"x4"bolt at the other end, expansion type or epoxied with Simpson ET. A
smaller washer 11/4x11/4"x5/16" washer may be used.
