SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
Council Chambers - City Hall
June 5, 2018 — 5:30 p.m.
CALL MEETING TO ORDER
Mayor Ferrell called the meeting to order at 5:34 p.m.
City officials in attendance: Mayor Jim Ferrell, Deputy Mayor Susan Honda, Councilmember Lydia
Assefa-Dawson, Councilmember Jesse Johnson, Councilmember Hoang Tran, Councilmember Mark
Koppang, Councilmember Martin Moore, and Councilmember Dini Duclos.
City staff in attendance: City Attorney Ryan Call and City Clerk Stephanie Courtney.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Mayor Ferrell led the flag salute.
3. STUDY SESSION — 2019/2020 BIENNIAL BUDGET
Finance Director Ade Ariwoola presented a spreadsheet listing the10-Year Capital Replacement Plan.
He noted the allocations are informational and just a reminder to give an idea of what items are
outstanding and looking forward.
Mr. Ariwoola stated the city needs to look at revenue sustainability in order to continue to maintain the
city -owned properties.
Councilmembers thanked Mr. Ariwoola for the presentation and asked various clarifying questions
regarding shared costs with the school district for shared parks; safety issues at sports facilities and
the community center; and more information on the costs in 2020 and 2021 at Steel Lake Park.
No citizen comments were received.
4. EXECUTIVE SESSION
At 5:59 p.m. Mayor Ferrell announced the Council would be recessing into executive session to
discuss potential litigation pursuant to RCW 42.30.110(1)(i) for approximately 45 minutes.

5. ADJOURNMENT
Council returned to Chambers at 6:45 p.m. There being nothing further on the agenda; Mayor Ferrell
adjourned the Special Meeting at 6:45 p.m.
