John (Foreman)intends to repair the pipe prior to backfilling. This would continue throughout the day. 10:15 AM: Mix onsite(Mix design#S4200A) began setting piles 20 and 21. 11:00 AM: DBM cleaning out damaged storm pipe,prepping for repair. Pipe to be chipped around damage for concrete to bond to. Wire mesh placed over the damaged areas with red line concrete placed over the top for repair. Began drilling for piles 18 through 14. 1:00 PM: Repair of concrete pipe finished,removed casing and backfilled over the pipe with native material. 1:30 PM: Crew began placing lagging between piles 50 through 40. Drilling crew began setting piles 18 through 14. 3:00 PM: Finished placing piles 18 through 14 and lagging for the day. DBM began site cleanup. I departed site. I discussed the work being conducted with John Josling(Foreman). John aware that staking is set to face of piling and not to center of piling,drilling continued. Existing soil is a silty sand material. 9:00 AM: Obstruction found while drilling pile#53,obstruction not visible. Location of pile is in line with existing concrete storm line from manhole to the north of wall location. DBM elected to stop drilling#53,continue drilling at pile#50. 10:25 AM: Mix arrived onsite. Mix Design#S4200A from Corliss. 10:56 AM: DBM filled holes for piles 53 and 54 with lean concrete(Mix Design#S4200A). Paul Groneck(DBM Structual Engineer)onsite determining issues with pile locations. A design change will be made to move piles around existing concrete storm line. 11:20 AM: Set pile#51. 11:40 AM: Pile set to wrong height and angled towards roadway. DBM to remove pile and auger out the cement to reset. 11:45 AM: Lodril down,plate holding the cylinder broke off. Crew took lunch at this time. 12:30 AM: Lodril operational,continued drilling at pile#49 through 47. 1:00 PM: DBM began setting piles 47-50. 2:00 PM: Continued drilling for piles 43-46. Throughout day observed no ground water in any of the holes drilled. 3:07 PM: Completed drilling for the day,began site cleanup. 3:30 PM: Crew and I departed site.
