OWNER OR AGENT /� / DATE�� / bld_prmt 10/23/92 f FIELD INSPECTION REPORT After receiving a request from Fire District #39 to investigate a building that had suffered from vehicular assault, I arrived at the Capitol Square building at 728 South 320th Street, Federal Way, Washington, at 8:30am on November 9th, 1992. I found that the building had been damaged in two separate areas by two different vehicles. In both instances, the vehicles had impacted a non- bearing cantilevered bay window. The post support for the header, which was not in line with the exterior wall as it should be and the roof trusses above, was a minimum at one end. The roof framing and wall framing around the affected areas appeared undamaged because of the redundant nature of the wall and roof framing. Some non-bearing facia columns which contained downspouts inside of them had been knocked out of place. The non-bearing columns were meant to give the impression that they supported the building eave. The building eave resulted from the cantilevered roof trusses. The building had four suites and each suite which had suffered damage was posted "UNSAFE TO OCCUPY" as directed by telex from the Building Official. The building owner, Mr. Ken Stensgaard, was contacted on site and informed that a building permit for the repair work would be required but no plans would be necessary. Mr. Stensgaard was notified of the limits of occupancy and indicated he understood them. Mr. Stensgaard was directed to provide support for the headers and barriers to prevent weather intrusion. Once completed, he was to notify the Federal Way Building Section for another damage assessment inspection. Respectfully Submitted, K.C.
