RE: Correction Notice
Permit #09-101569
This letter is a written response to comments numbered 1, 3, and 4 in the Correction
Notice issued November 4 on project permit #09-101569. The notes below explain
acceptable remedies to comments in your correction notice. ,
1. The sill plate must bear substantially on the foundation wall (ie: no gap,
shims, etc.). Provide a fix from the engineer.
It is acceptable to fill any gaps between the sill plate and the
foundation wall with non -shrink grout.
3. There are several holdowns that have spalling greater than the
manufacturer allows. Provide a fix from the engineer.
Where holdowns have spalling greater than the manufacturer allows,
provide an HD type holdown of equal capacity to the deficient
holdown. It is acceptable to install the HD type holdown with an
expansion type anchor, approved for use in seismic applications,
verified by manufacturer's specification to be of capacity equal to or
greater than the holdown capacity.
4. There are several holdowns that appear too close to the edge of a corner or
end of a foundation wall. Provide a fix from the engineer
