I am unable to complete the plan review of the above -referenced project until I receive additional
information regarding, but not limited to,, the following:
It appears that the roof is going to support the exhaust stacks for the coffee roaster. Information
provided by MacDonald Miller stated that the exhaust pipe is 40 pounds per foot. Provide gravity
load calculation for the exhaust stacks for the coffee roasters. Submit complete framing details
required by the engineer for roof and truss modifications.
Per the manufacturer of the coffee roasters, the exhaust vents shall not be supported by the
equipment. Show on the drawings compliance with the manufacturer requirements. If the roof
thimble is going to support the entire weight of the exhaust stack above and below the roof the
engineering shall take this into consideration. Amend the drawings as needed.
I could not locate any calculation to support the number of new make-up air openings. Provide
calculation showing that the number of new openings is sufficient for combustion air for worst case,
such as all coffee roasters operating at the same time (IMC 701.1 for solid fuel burning appliances
and IFGC 304 gas fired appliances).
The purpose of this plan review is to verify code compliance, to the extent possible and reasonable, given
the information provided on the plans and the city's plan review resources and capabilities. In no way
does any city approval constitute a guarantee of code compliance. authorize any work in violation of any
applicable codes; or relieve the owner of responsibility for complying with pertinent codes and
ordinances.
Provide 2 sets of the corrected drawings, and complete the enclosed resubmittal forin. Plans requiring
engineering must be stamped by the engineer and be accompanied by the engineer's calculations. I will
review the resubmittal as expediently as possible.
