APPLICABLE CODES
On July 1, 2010, the following codes with Washington State Amendments
will be in effect: -
2009 International Building Code, WAC 51-50
(Including the 2009 International Existing Building Code)
2009 International Mechanical Code, WAC 51-52
2009 International Fuel Gas Code
2009 International Fire Code, WAC 51-54
2009 Uniform Plumbing Code, WAC 51-56 and 51-57 (UPC)
2009 Washington State Energy Code
I. GENERAL
A. The Contractor shall verify all dimensions, elevations, and site
conditions before starting work; and the Engineer shall be immediately
notified, in writing, of any discrepancies.
B. The Contractor shall determine the location of utility services in the
area to be excavated before beginning excavation. Do necessary
excavation to complete the work shown. The excavation shall be
principally of the open trench methods meeting safety requirements.
C. All material and workmanship shall conform to the requirements of
the following Codes (latest edition):
1. American Concrete Institute (ACI)
2. Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI) Manual of Standard
Practice (for placing and detailing of all reinforcing)
3. American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC)
4. American Welding Society (AWS) Standards for Welding as
modified by A.I.S.C. Spec
D. The scope of this project includes, but is not limited to, the
complete furnishing and installation of all equipment, materials, components
and labor for 2009 Uniform Plumbing Code, WAC 51-56 and 51-57 (UPC).
E. Proper separation of sewer and water shall be maintained to
comply with 2009 Uniform Plumbing Code, WAC 51-56 and 51-57 (UPC).
F. The plumbing system shall be tested in accordance with 2009
Uniform Plumbing Code, WAC 51-56 and 51-57 (UPC).
G. Co-ordinate all installations with other trades.
H. The Contractor is responsible for all utility hook-ups and any
costs associated with the utilities. It is the Contractor's responsibility to
contact the utility companies.
I. The Contractor shall make all provisions for entry of his equipment
including building openings and do necessary work to restore site and
building to original condition.
J. Each Contractor shall mark a set of drawings to show as -built
conditions. This work shall be completed and accepted by Engineer before
approval of final payment.
K. Each Contractor shall submit four (4) sets of shop drawings for all
equipment.

F. Install chrome plated steel escutcheons at finished surfaces.
4. Sanitary sewer system: underground soil, waste and vent piping shall be service
weight cast iron pipe with fittings conforming to ASTM -74. Joints shall be made using
elastomeric compression type gasket. Hubless cast iron pipe and fittings will be
acceptable. Plastic pipe Schedule 40 (ABS or PVC) and fittings conforming to ASTM
D2661 and D2665 laid on a continuous granular bed shall be acceptable. Solvent weld
joints in PVC pipe shall be made using a primer which is of contrasting color to the
pipe and cement. The Contractor shall verity location of existing sanitary sewer.
5. Above ground drain, waste and vent piping shall be hubless cast iron
pipe and fittings. Plastic pipe Schedule 40 (ABS or PVC) shall be
acceptable, except that no stack or horizontal drain piping of plastic
pipe shall exceed 35 feet in total length. Solvent weld joints in PVC pipe
shall be made using a primer which is of contrasting color to the pipe
and cement.
6. Plumbing Fixtures & Equipment:
A. Floor Trench Drain — MIFAB T1400 trench drain shall be provided
and installed by the contractor. The contractor shall provide the
connection to the plumbing system.
B. Clean Outs — CO: WADE #W6000 Series.
C. Oil / Water Separator — Model OW 25 -SA: Shall be by Oldcastle
precast, or approved equal. Tank shall have 100 gallon capacity.
Tank shall have a sealed cover. Inlet and outlet shall be 4" diameter
and vent shall be 3" diameter. Exposed vapor vent piping shall be
cast iron.
