Type of Work Performed Foundation Soil Improvements Equipment Used 5/8 in"T" Probe Comments: An engineering geologist from LS&E visited the single family home site located at 29828 23rd AV SW in Federal Way to observe foundation soil improvements recommended in our 2/9 Field Report. The foundation soil in the northeast half of the building envelops has been improved by over excavation and replacing the soft moist soil with compacted 3 inch angular quarry spalls. The spalls extend approximately 1 foot beyond the foundation footing forms and were compacted to create a firm and non- yielding condition. We also observed the trenching for a gravity drain on the west and north sides of the outside perimeter of the foundation. The footing drain should consist of a 4 inch perforated pipe surrounded by pea gravel or clean washed 3/4 in round drain rock. The footing drain should be directed to the low side of the foundation and discharged in a manner which will not erode the surface soils. No further observations are indicated.
