Wynstone , Lots 29- 114 SEGA Engineers has provided structural engineering including lateral loads analysis, shear wall design, and framing calculations for the subject project. We have previously reviewed the proposed wood-framed decks that are used on sites where the grading slopes away from the rear elevation and these decks are in accordance with the prescriptive requirements of IRC Section 502. The drawings provided a knee-brace detail to be used at the post-and-beam line at the exterior side of the deck. The knee- brace detail may be replaced with diagonal braces when the post height does not exceed the post-to-post spacing (i.e. not exceeding 45 degrees). SEGA Engineers recommends using a 2 x 6 diagonal bracing member at each bay to provide additional bracing and stiffness. Connect each brace at top to the 4 x 10 beam and at bottom to the 4x post with a'/z"diameter thru-bolt. The bracing details may be omitted when the deck is not more than 30" above finish grade.
