Upon arrival we observed the following: • During mass excavation for the subject lot a large erratic (boulder) was encountered along the western foundation margin. The erratic was encountered at approximately the midpoint of the western foundation line. We measured the exposed portion of the boulder to be 6' by 8' by 3.5' thick. The boulder was encased in dense native undisturbed silty sand with gravel. The boulder was comprised of granite and appeared unweathered and hard. • It is our opinion that the presence of this boulder at the foundation subgrade here will not affect the performance of the foundation (proportioned for a bearing capacity of 1,500 psf) across the length boulder.
