Staff Gerwen is drafting a memo for RCO, they will review the plan to ensure that we have met all of their requirements. Once RCO approves the plan we will be eligible to apply for grants. The grant cycle will start in the spring of 2020. The PROS plan will be sent to the printer soon; a limited amount of copies will be made due to the printing costs. OTHER BUSINESS Staff Hutton reported that Recreation Manager Cody Geddes applied for a King County Youth Athletic Sports Grant and was awarded $250,000 to apply towards the replacement of the artificial turf at Saghalie Park. The grant can only be used for turf replacement at Saghalie Park. The Parks Department is also partnering with the Soccer Association; they are donating $50,000 towards the turf replacement. Staff still needs to make a decision on which vendor to use. The replacement will take place in the fall. Commissioner Berger stated he had heard that during the Council discussion on the PROS Plan Deputy Mayor Honda suggested some additions, he inquired if any of those suggested additions were of potential interest to the Parks and Recreation Commission. Staff Hutton answered that several of her suggestions were already in the PROS Plan. The one suggestion that was discussed was Camp Kilworth which was added to the final plan as a future possibility for property acquisition. The difficulty of hiring Park Maintenance seasonal staff was discussed; they are still short eight people. The wage has been increased to attract more applicants.
