SIGN PEA .r REVISED v2or98 ► , • CONDITIONS FOR RIDGECREST MOTEL,SIGN PERMIT#00-100602-00 1) WINDOW SIGN ALLOWANCES Window signs are all signs located inside and affixed to a window and intended to be viewed from the exterior of a structure. Window signs are used to advertise products,goods or services for sale on-site,business identification, hours of operation,addre and emergency information. The area of window signs shall not exceed 25%of the window area. 2)AMORTIZATION &LOSS OF LEGAL NON-CONFORMANCE The existing pole and roof signs are considered legal nonconforming signs. Both must be removed as a condition of this permit. 3)PROPERTY LINES This permit is issued based on the information provided by the applicant. Since property lines cannot be verified without a surve property owner, his/her heirs or assigns shall assume all liability for any relocation or any other associated costs should the sign located in public right of way or within the required yard setback. 4) SIGN SETBACK REQUIREMENTS The required setback from property lines for all signs shall be not less than 5' in residential zones and not less than 3' in all othe zones. 5) FUEL PRICE SIGN Fuel price signs shall be located on the property where fuel is sold, shall be limited to one monument sign per street frontage not exceeding five(5)feet in height and sign area shall not exceed 20 square feet per sign face-Per FWCC, Sect. 22-1599.C2g. One minimum base. Required landscaping must include vegetation. 6)ILLUMINATION LIMITATIONS Pursuant to Federal Way City Code Section 22-1603(F), no sign may contain or utilize the following: (1)Any exposed incandesc lamp with a wattage in excess of 25 watts; (2) Any exposed incandescent lamp with an internal or external reflector; (3)Any continuous or sequential flashing device or operation; (4)Except for electronic changeable message signs, any incandescent lam inside an internally lighted sign; (5)External light sources directed towards or shining on vehicular or pedestrian traffic or on a st (6) Internally lighted signs using 800-milliamp or larger ballasts if the lamps are spaced closer than 12 inches on center;and(7) Internally lighted signs using 425-milliamp or larger ballasts if the lamps are spaced closer than six inches on center. 7) DESIGN CRITERIA The sign base shall be made of solid materials that are harmonious with the character of the primary structures on the subject pro and there shall be no visible gap between the sign base and the finished grade for all monument and pedestal signs, per FWCC S 22-1602(3)(I). 8) CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS Signs should be constructed and installed so that angle irons, guywires,braces and other structural elements arc not visible. This NOT apply to structural elements that are an integral part of the overall design. (FWCC, 22-1602(A)) 9) ELECTRICAL WORK A separate electrical permit is required for any sign requiring electrical work. The electrical work must be approved by one of th electrical inspectors.
