Pacific Northwest Engineering Inc. (PNE) as requested has reviewed correction notice by
the City of Federal Way dated 12/9/14 and has responded to items 2-4 as follows:
2) We find it acceptable to substitute a Boise Cascade 5%2 x 9%2 Versa -Lam 2.0 3100
for the plan specified 5-7/16 x 9%2 exterior grade GLB provided the Versa -Lam is
wrapped to be protected from exterior exposure. The Versa -Lam installed has
superior design qualities to the GLB.
3) Beam FF8 (6x10 DF#2) is permitted to not be pressure treated provided it is
wrapped to be protected from exterior exposure.
4) It is our understanding that a single joist was installed in place of the double joist
shown on the approved set of plans at the back of the stairs (shown on sheet S-2).
As a substitution to the double joist over the bearing wall below, please provide
(2) 2x6 vertical blocks in the joist cavity directly under the built up above from
beam SF5
