The following items were discussed and the following direction is consistent with our discussion: 1. At the entry canopy we will use light gauge joists to span between the two existing steel tube beams. The span is approximately 12'. Please provide 6"deep x 1-5/8"w.x 18 ga.joists @ 16"o.c.bearing over the top of the steel tube beams.Provide continuous track/rim each end of these joists directly over the steel tube beams. The joists should be nested inside the track. The track should be 6"deep x 1-1/2"w.x 18 ga. Attach each joist to the top flange of the track with a#8 screw. Attach the bottom flange of each joist to the steel tube beam below with a 0.145"diameter x 1-1/2"shotpin. This shotpin should penetrate the bottom flange of the joist and the bottom flange of the track. Provide Y."plywood sheathing over the joists and attach with a#8 screw @ 12"o.c.to all framing members below. 2. Where the new building abuts the existing building,provide metal joists attached as shown on the following page to close the gap. Place 3/a"plywood sheathing over the joists and attach with a#8 screws @ 12"o.c.max.spacing. 3. At parapets 3'-4"or less,provide Scafco MC200 clip x 16 ga.with(2)#10 screws to the adjacent steel angle. This clip should be placed vertically as high as possible against the steel. For attachment to the structural steel,provide(2)0.145"diameter x 1.5"shotpins. This is a replacement for the coils straps shown on the structural drawings. 4. For parapets over 3'-4"and 4'-6"maximum,please install a diagonal brace every third stud. This results in a diagonal brace @ 48"o.c..The diagonal brace should be a 6"x1-5/8"xl 8 ga.stud with web placed against the parapet stud web. Attach with(3)#10 screws. Top of diagonal brace to be 12"from top of parapet stud. Diagonal brace to be placed with a 45 degree angle. Where brace lands on metal roof deck provide Scafco MC350 clip with(3)#10 screws to brace and(3)#10 screws to metal roof deck.
