We understand that the quantity and placement of these double or triple members in some conditions did not get placed per plan.However,in those circumstances,the contractor placed a short perpendicular member(s)between joists where the loading from above occurred and added a 4x4 post and 2x2 isolated footing below the affected region(per the footing schedule), which we were asked to comment on for structural compliance. Response:The alternate framing/support condition is structurally acceptable,upon verification that the support members in the floor match the width of the bundled studs,above unless the support studs are located within a wall above with continuous btm plate. For the next build we anticipate that the plan specified in-floor support system will be desired,but for the as-built condition no repair in addition will be required,as long as continuous support to the isolated footing is provided.
