As scheduled by Tri-North Construction, a GNN representative was onsite during excavation and fill placement to confirm that any unsuitable materials present within the footing trenches were removed and observe the subgrade preparation and fill placement. Subgrade soil conditions and backfill placement were evaluated by visual observations, probing, and in-place density testing to confirm compliance with our geotechnical design recommendations. Our inspections confirmed that the footing subgrade soils and backfill materials were properly prepared and adequately compacted in accordance with the recommendations of the referenced geotechnical report. Based on my review of the footing inspection and testing reports to date, the prepared footing subgrade is suitable for the designed allowable bearing capacity of 3,000 psf. PG.S1 note 3,A, B,C all talk about the requirements for special inspection of the building pad. PG. 1 of the geo-tech report that was approved by the city the recommendations from Great Northern is that they are there for excavation and pad prep. Chapter 17 of the IBC requires special inspection for soils excavation and I do not see on the plans that the requirement was waived from the plans examiner. If you have something different please let me know. Please consider this email as correction notice for your inspection I was out at today.The inspection will be failed in the system and you will need to reschedule once the geo-tech work has been completed.
