CDBG Eligible Activities
CDBG Eligible Activities:
Meet on the national objectives, which are:
Benefit low- to moderate-income persons;
Aid in the prevention or elimination of slum and blight; and
Meet a need having a particular urgency
Funds must be used for eligible activities
Not less than 70% of funds must benefit low- to moderate-income persons – it is the City’s practice to spend 100% of its CDBG allocation to benefit low- and moderate-income persons.

Accomplishments to date
40 homes repaired
1,393 persons received public services including:
231 businesses were assisted
One domestic violence shelter had critical repairs for security
Two homeowner occupied homes were acquired as affordable housing
One home was added as an adult family home for individuals with disabilities
The Performing Arts and Event Center in 2017
Additional projects are in progress or will complete in 2019.
280 persons rental assistance;
17 women accessed supportive services via emergency shelter;
11 drug-exposed infants were provided critical care;
872 persons with disabilities received life skills and other classes; and
139 persons received employment training leading to 85 job placements

Community Survey Overview
Housing for Homeless Needs included emergency shelters, transitional housing, supportive services, and permanent housing, all of which were ranked as high need by over 45%.
Job creation was the highest ranked need for economic development followed by job progression opportunities and job specific training.
The public services ranked as high need were mental health services, crime awareness and prevention, substance abuse services, homeless services, services for abused and neglected children,
services for victims of domestic violence, and youth services.
