Betty,
q( 44 I recently received a letter from Heather Smith regarding the
monument sign and setback requirements. In her letter, she states
that we can reduce the setback to the minumum requirement of three
feet, and to submit a revised site plan to you. Enclosed is that site
plan, showing the measurement from the g...,e4 - line to be 13'10",
rather than 17'10" as was previously shown.
Also, based on the following facts, we felt our installation was
within the code guidelines:

Dear Ms. Guffey:
On September 18, 1998, City of Federal Way staff inspected the wall signs and the monument
sign that Coldwell Banker installed under sign permit SGN98-0150. The monument sign did not
meet the setback conditions of the approved permit, therefore the sign must be relocated.
The permit indicated that the monument would be set back five feet from the property line. The
property line was shown as being 17'10" from the curb of 1st Way S. The site inspection
revealed that the sign is located approximately 13'10" from the curb. The sign does not meet the
required five foot setback from the property line and encroaches into the public right of way.
The monument sign must be relocated to the position indicated on the approved permit by
November 25, 1998. If you would like to reduce the setback to the minimum requirement of
three feet, you may submit a revised site plan showing a three foot setback. Please contact Betty
Cruz, Code Compliance Officer, at(253)641-4017 to discuss your options, .
City staff will reinspect the monument sign on November 26, 1998 to verify that these
conditions of the sign permit have been met.
