I believe the DNS is inappropriate for this site which includes wetlands that support the health of Steel
Lake.
Several decades ago, the City Council determined that the wetlands that support Steel Lake should be
protected. The DNS includes a component where the developer pays a fee in lieu of keeping required
open spaces. This is in violation of the City Council's prior commitment to the health of Steel Lake.
In addition, both 20th Ave South and South 304th streets are narrow, have poor line of sight issues and in
no way can support additional traffic for this level of over -building on that property.
I aro concerned that the Federal Way planners and City Council are allowing this to progress and taking
advantage during a time when homeowners are distracted and responding to a historic pandemic.
I am formally asking the City to request the king County Ombudsman
(https://www.kingcounty-gov/independent/ombuds.aspx) to review the application and activities
associated with The Woodlands at Redondo Creek and conduct a review for potential personal conflicts
of interest that may not serve the residents impacted by this project.
This level of building was not allowed in the past and should be thoughtfully P115'reconsidered before
allowing to continue.

RE: Land Development Application - parcel's 042104-9012 & -9221
Hello Becky
I hope you and your family are well and not negatively impacted by the COVID outbreak.
I'm not clear if a public hearing will occur for the above referenced development application so please
accept this as my response in opposition to the development of parcels 042104-9012 & -9221 as it is
currently drafted.
l am onnosed to the development plan as it was communicated via US mail and is nowposted at the site.
I believe the current plan overdevelops a critical watershed area and appears to remove a large portion, if
not all, of pollutant filtering vegetation and evergreen trees for a critical Federal Way body of water. In
addition, the structure and layout of the adjacent roadway and lack of sidewalks along 304th street can in
no way support the addition of cars and foot traffic associated with 70+ homes. Finally, homeowners in
the area have previously reported seeing eagles and owls in the forested area and those animals would
have no nesting sites with such an extensive development.
The current proposal as crafted is a gross over -development of a watershed that supports the health of
Steel Lake. The current parcel owner must have been well aware that past attempts to develop this land
were denied for much the same reasons as I have stated above. Not even a pandemic crisis should
prevent us from supporting the health of local waterways and forests. The owners should also be required
to monitor and maintain the health of the stream, wetlands, and supporting forest without local residents
having to resort to complaints to the city as we recently had to do.
Thank you for logging my opposition and please confirm that you have received and recorded my
opposition to the proposed development.
Regards,
Anne Etter
