EnOwering, Planning&Laid ` = June 22, 2020 Tom& Diana Coryell 135 S. 29th Place Federal Way,WA /9- to 0// RE: Addition Framing Inspection Mr.Coryell, NL Olson and Associates prepared engineering for the addition and remodel plan currently under construction at 135 S. 29th Place in Federal Way. During a recent inspection,the inspector noted several changes made to the framing that did not match the engineered plans. • The 5'h"x24"glulam beam supporting the roof rafters was omitted and replaced with a bearing wall. The openings in the new bearing wall have(2)2"x6"headers.This is an acceptable replacement for the glulam beam. • The 6"x 12"headers for the windows in the master bedroom were replaced with 4"x8" headers. The original design was for the 6"xl 2"header to span over the three windows and the mullions to be non-structural. The new 4"x8"headers are supported on either (2)2"x6"or 6"x6"posts and span 60 inches. This is an acceptable alternative. • The new bearing wall replacing the 5 V2"x24"glulam roof beam sits over top of the existing floor beam in the garage. In order to strengthen the beam,two 13/4"x117/8"LVL were sistered to the existing beam with lag screws. I have checked the strength of new LVL/existing beam combination and found it to be adequate. • The plan originally called for 2"x12"floor joists.In order to match the existing floor joists 2"x10"joists were used.
