The plans provided on March 23, 2018 have been reviewed by the Public Works Department, generating the
following comments:
1. Although a legend is provided on the site plan for erosion control methods, none were shown. Erosion
control and flow control are required per the 2016 King County Surface Water Design Manual,
Appendices C and D. The geotechnical report establishes that infiltration methods are not appropriate for
the site, however all of the methods provided in Appendix C must be considered and storm water runoff
must be controlled onsite. Please show the proposed flow control method with dimensions and setback
requirements. Provide any calculations required for sizing.
2. Federal Way Revised Code(FWRC) section 19.135.030 requires that frontage improvements be installed
along the property frontage on 25th Ave SW. This street is classified as a type "W" street requiring 28
feet of paved travel way, 4 foot wide planter strips, and 5 foot wide sidewalks within a 52 foot wide
public right-of-way. You may request a Right-of-Way Improvement Modification based on one of the
four reasons cited in FWRC 19.135.070 by filling out the enclosed handout. The fee is $278.00
3. A Right-of-Way Permit is required for any work within the public right-of-way, such as driveway
construction or utility connection. Please contact the Permit Desk at 253-835-2725 for more information.
