NOTICE OF VIRTUAL/TELEPHONIC LAND USE PUBLIC HEARING

Notice is hereby given that the City of Federal Way Hearing Examiner will hold a virtual/telephonic public
hearing on February 26, at 9:00 a.m. by means of Zoom to consider the following proposal:
Topic: Process IV application for extension of Phase II, Memory Care & Cottages, of the Village
Green Senior Housing retirement campus. The request includes construction of the remaining
174 units of independent and assisted living senior apartments, 17-unit independent living
cottages, 40-unit memory care building, and a 10-year land use approval. Depending on the
activity level and needs of the residents, a community recreation building may be constructed in
lieu of several cottages. The project is adjacent to the Village Green retirement campus, which
includes 167 existing independent and assisted living units. This request will increase the total
number of units for the entire Village Green retirement campus to 398 units, an eight percent
increase from previous approvals.

Impact Analysis.
Applicable Development Regulations: Federal Way Revised Code (FWRC) Title 14, “Environmental Policy”;
Title 16 “Surface Water Management”; and Title 19 “Zoning and Development Code.”
A State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) Addendum to Determination of Nonsignificance (DNS) was issued on
February 29, 2020.
Pursuant to FWRC 19.70, “Process IV – Hearing Examiner,” the Hearing Examiner will hold a public hearing on
the application and issue a written decision within 10 working days of the close of the hearing.

Availability of File: The official project file and existing environmental documents are available to the public by
request, or on the city’s website at https://www.cityoffederalway.com/node/1962. A staff report will be available
on the city’s website on February 18, 2021.
Public Comments: Any person has the right to submit written comments to the Hearing Examiner and/or provide
oral testimony at the public hearing. Submit written comments (we request you submit them at least two hours
before the meeting starts) to the Planning Division at planning@cityoffederalway.com; please reference Village
Green Retirement Campus.
Alternatively, written comments to the Hearing Examiner may be mailed to the Community Development
Department before the hearing at: Community Development Department, 33325 8th Avenue South, Federal
Way, WA 98003.
Any person may request a copy of the decision once made.
