Process I "Director's Approval" DaVita Business Office Parking & Landscaping Modification
DaVita Healthcare is requesting that the condition for approval requiring the two new pedestrian pathways to be "continuous with a distinct pavement
texture and color that extends across the drive isles" be reconsidered. DaVita has requested that aluminum walkway covers be added to the
connecting walkways through the parking islands, which were not indicated on the original Process I submittal. I have attached a Proposed Aluminum
Walkway Cover plan along with standard details for the prefabricated walkway cover manufactured by Mitchell Metals. The walkway covers are
intended to provide protection from the elements for teammates traveling between buildings as well promote pedestrian safety by clearly identifying the
pathways through the existing parking lot. DaVita feels that the visual impact of the canopy components along with the proposed high-visibility white
paint stripes at the drive isle crossings will provide a safe environment for their teammates, both pedestrians and those arriving to campus in vehicles,
while avoiding the disruption to parking access that would be required to replace pavement with new concrete crossings at drive isles.
