CONDITIONS:
1. Window signs are all signs located inside and affixed to a window and intended to be viewed from the exterior of a
structure. Window signs are used to advertise products, goods or services for sale on -site, business identification, hours
of operation, address, and emergency information. The area of window signs shall not exceed 25% of the window area.
2. Pursuant to Federal Way City Code Section 22-1603(F), no sign may contain or utilize the following: (1) Any
exposed incandescent lamp with a wattage in excess of 25 watts; (2) Any exposed incandescent lamp with an internal or
external reflector; (3) Any continuous or sequential flashing device or operation; (4) Except for electronic changeable
message signs, any incandescent lamp inside an internally lighted sign; (5) External light sources directed towards or
shining on vehicular or pedestrian traffic or on a street; (6) Internally lighted signs using 800-milliamp or larger
ballasts if the lamps are spaced closer than 12 inches on center; and (7) Internally lighted signs using 425-milliamp or
larger ballasts if the lamps are spaced closer than six inches on center.
3. Signs should be constructed and installed so that angle irons, guywires, braces and other structural elements are not
visible. This does NOT apply to structural elements that are an integral part of the overall design. (FWCC, 22-1602(A))
4. A separate electrical permit is required for any sign requiring electrical work. The electrical work must be approved
by one of the city electrical inspectors. Please contact Neil Doyle at 253-661-4181 or Mac McConnell at 253-661-4182 to
schedule an on -site inspection, prior to the installation of any such sign(s). Contact Kari, Tom, Heather or Fernando at
253-661-4117/4115 for questions regarding electrical permit applications.
5. FINAL SIGN INSPECTION IS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO RECEIVE SIGN REGISTRATION NUMBER.
PLEASE CALL 253-661-4140 TO SCHEDULE THE INSPECTION.
PERMIT EXPIRES December 6, 2000, IF NO WORK IS STARTED.
