In the City of Federal Way the approval rate was 53%.
* Last October the City Council enacted a moratorium on
marijuana-related businesses for an additional 6 months.
* The current moratorium will expire on May 5, 2015.

The state has specified no more than five retail outlets may be
allowed within the City limits.
No limit on number of producer or processor businesses.

Numerous marijuana related bills, including:
SB 5052 Reconciles medical and recreational marijuana.
SB 5417 Addresses revenue distribution.
HB 1461 Omnibus bill that revises numerous provisions regarding
medical & recreational marijuana (including taxes, revenue distribution,
siting of businesses, bans, enforcement, and delivery services).

September/October zo14: Planning Commission
• Consensus was for staff to prepare recommendations for siting recreational marijuana-
related businesses.
• Draft regulations prepared for the Community Business (BC) & Commercial Enterprise (CE)
zones.
• Ultimately recommended the Council ban marijuana-related businesses.
October 2014: LUTC
Voted to recommend the ban and extend the medical marijuana moratorium.
October zo14: City Council
Renewed the recreational and medical marijuana moratorium for 6 months.
