Project timeline
The project team coordinated the design workshops with Belmor Park leadership and Hynes Group. Meeting preparations and notifications included:
A leadership briefing on January 19 to discuss best practices for outreach to all residents at Belmor Park, including language needs
In-person distribution of a flyer with the meeting notification
An announcement in The Banner monthly residential newsletter
Posts in the active Belmor Park Facebook group
A mailing to each Belmor Park residential address which included a copy of the presentation, the flyer with meeting information and a comment form.
Approximately 63 unique log-ins attended the February 24, 2021 presentation via Zoom – Webinar, Facebook Live or by dial-in phone. In total, 39 participants joined the design webinar
via Zoom - Webinar and, at peak attendance, 24 participants watched the Facebook live event. The project team received a total of 57 comments through Facebook, Zoom, comment forms and
letters. The project team posted a recording of the design webinar on the Belmor Park Facebook group for those who weren’t able to watch the meeting live.
Common themes from questions and comments:
Many residents shared concerns about potential property impacts, especially as related to the project’s proposed retaining wall and other projects in the Federal Way area, such as Sound
Transit Operations and Maintenance Facility (OMF) South project.
Many residents shared concerns about the project design at 324th Street and road operations at the Belmor Park entrance.
Many participants asked questions about the coordination with Sound Transit, including graphics, funding, and project timelines.
Several participants asked about the project timeline, especially as it relates to property impacts and potential acquisitions.
